Beautiful

Boy am I glad Mark Buxton reprised his role for this scent as it's magical! To me, the bottles tell all. The original bottle is opaque and the new (edt) is crystal clear and the same goes for the fragrances. The new Laguna Maravilla is more transparent than its predecessor. The top starts out clearer, more transparent slightly more citric but not in a sharp or acidic way. Working its way through to the mid and basenotes notes, the fragrance is almost indistinguishable from the original, just a little clearer. Again it has an oriental/aquatic feel to it as if it should be worn in hazy summer evenings.

Adorable fragrance, very well composed and thankfully not just an excuse to make a flanker to sell off of the Laguna name. As with Laguna, Maravilla to my nose can easily be worn by either gender. If I were to compare it to any other fragrance I would say Herrera Aqua and that's marketed as a male fragrance.

A decent ambery wood!

This is a rather well made sweet(ish) woody amber. Rather linear as it doesn't progress much and to be honest it does seem to be quite highly synthetic but even a synthetic can work well if it's composed with skill.

Sweet ambery wood right out of the bottle and warms as it goes along. Not so much development as softening and smoothing out.

A trendy genre i.e. Armani Code, but just different enough to be interesting. Certainly much better value than Code in my opinion!

Beautiful, truley unisex fragrance

This aquatic/oriental fragrance was created by Mark Buxton in 1991. It is far from smelling dated as this fragrance was well ahead of it's time! It's warm and fresh all at the same time. I describe it as a "mignight aquatic". No screaming florals and acidic citrus. Muted florals leading to a wonderfully mild slightly "plump" vanilla base with the beauty of ambergirs to 'fix' the fragance and give it feel of opulent luxury. A real beauty, not terribly easy to find in the UK but Cheapsmells have it at a superb price!
